The Science Behind JK Fenner's Advanced Technology

JK Fenner's Advanced Technology division is built on rigorous scientific research and strategic academic partnerships. The collaboration with IIT Madras targets a fundamental challenge in rubber engineering: while natural rubber itself is biodegradable, finished rubber products degrade slowly due to non-biodegradable chemical bridges in their molecular structure. Professor R. Dhamodharan's research team at IIT Madras is developing effective, biodegradable molecular bridges as an alternative, aiming to create elastomers that maintain performance during service life but break down naturally afterward. Simultaneously, our exploration of natural fibers—cotton, hemp, and others—seeks to replace synthetic materials in belt reinforcement layers. JK Fenner's vision: developing next generation rubber which is going to be biodegradable and environment-friendly.

Applications of Advanced Engineered Products

Beyond next-generation materials, JK Fenner's Advanced Technology portfolio delivers high-performance engineered products for today's demanding applications. Vibration control mounts isolate industrial machinery, reducing transmitted vibration to building structures and neighboring equipment. For railway systems, specialized elastomeric components provide ride comfort and noise reduction. Elastomer gaskets, boots, and bellows offer flexible environmental sealing for automotive, industrial, and defence applications. The elastomer development centre at our Sriperumbudur facility enables custom compound formulation for unique application requirements, from chemical resistance to extreme temperature performance. This combination of near-term engineered products and long-term sustainable material development makes JK Fenner the partner for organizations serious about advanced elastomer technology.
