dDrive Series - Decentralized Inverter
The Rossi dDrive Series is a revolutionary decentralized frequency inverter designed to be mounted directly on the motor terminal box—physically and functionally integrating variable speed control into the gearmotor assembly. Eliminating the need for large centralized control cabinets and long shielded motor cables, the dDrive provides sensorless vector control, Safe Torque Off (STO) up to PL e safety level, and an array of configurable I/Os and fieldbus interfaces (including Bluetooth) within a rugged IP65 aluminium housing. Compatible with Rossi IE2 and IE3 electric motors across the entire gearbox range, the dDrive transforms a standard gearmotor into an intelligent, IoT-ready mechatronic drive unit. For system integrators, machine builders, and plant engineers, this means reduced electrical cabinet size, simplified wiring, faster commissioning, and the ability to develop dedicated control functions via an internal PLC.

Why Decentralized Inverters Are the Future of Motor Control
Traditional centralized VFD architectures require large electrical rooms, extensive cabling, and complex EMC mitigation. The Rossi dDrive fundamentally simplifies this paradigm by relocating the variable frequency drive to the motor itself. This decentralization reduces the physical footprint of the control system, shortens cable runs (which lowers cost and electromagnetic interference), and enables a modular, scalable plant design where each driven axis carries its own intelligence. For plant engineers, the benefits include faster installation, easier fault diagnosis, and the flexibility to reconfigure production lines without re-cabling entire electrical infrastructure.

dDrive Smart Features and IoT Connectivity
The dDrive Series goes beyond simple motor control, offering integrated IoT connectivity that unlocks predictive maintenance and remote diagnostics. The Bluetooth interface, combined with a dedicated smartphone app, allows commissioning technicians to configure parameters, monitor operating data, and diagnose faults without opening a cabinet or using specialized programming tools. Fieldbus compatibility (Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, and others) ensures effortless integration into plant-wide automation systems, while the internal PLC enables localized control logic for distributed automation architectures. Together, these features position the dDrive as a core component of Industry 4.0-enabled drive systems.
