S Series - Roller Table Motors
The Rossi S Series is a range of heavy-duty asynchronous three-phase roller table motors specifically designed and manufactured for inverter-fed operation in the extreme conditions of the iron and steel industry. These totally enclosed, non-ventilated (TENV) cage-rotor motors are purpose-built to drive mill roller tables and conveyor roller tables where high ambient temperatures, heavy dust, moisture, and continuous shock loading are the norm. Available in 4-pole and 6-pole configurations, with insulation Class F (Class H on request) and IP55 protection rating, the S Series motors deliver exceptional thermal resilience and mechanical robustness. For steel plant maintenance and engineering teams, the ability to mount these motors directly on the roller shaft—eliminating separate gearboxes—simplifies drivetrain design, reduces spare parts complexity, and ensures reliable round-the-clock production.

Totally Enclosed Non-Ventilated (TENV) Design
Self-cooling without external fan ensures reliable operation in dusty, dirty steel mill environments where fan-cooled motors would clog and fail.
Optimized for Inverter (VFD) Feeding
Motor winding insulation and design characteristics are specifically engineered for variable-frequency-drive control, enabling precise roller speed regulation.
Direct Roller Shaft Mounting
Low-speed, high-torque design allows direct coupling to the roller, eliminating the need for intermediate gearboxes and reducing maintenance points.
Class F Insulation (Class H Optional)
High-grade insulation withstands elevated ambient temperatures common in rolling mills without premature degradation.
IP55 Protection Rating
Sealed against dust ingress and water jets, ensuring reliability in wet descaling and cooling zones.
4 and 6 Pole Configurations
Broad pole and frequency options provide design flexibility to meet specific speed and torque requirements across different mill sections.
Why Rossi S Series Motors Are Critical for Steel Mill Productivity
Roller table motors operate in one of the most unforgiving environments in all of industry: continuous heat radiating from red-hot slabs, clouds of scale and dust, and the jarring impact of heavy billets crashing onto the rollers. The Rossi S Series is built for exactly these conditions. Its TENV construction means there is no external fan to become clogged or fail. Robust insulation and sealed bearings tolerate temperatures and contaminants that would destroy a standard industrial motor within weeks. For steel plant operators, specifying the S Series translates into dramatically reduced motor change-outs, less unplanned downtime, and consistent material handling throughput that keeps the entire mill running at design capacity.

Applications of Heavy-Duty Roller Table Motors Beyond Steel
While purpose-designed for steel mill roller tables, the Rossi S Series also performs reliably in other severe-duty environments where direct-coupled, low-speed, high-torque motor drives are required. These include non-ferrous metal rolling (aluminium, copper), heavy slag and waste conveyors in foundries, mining conveyor head pulleys in high-temperature processing areas, and certain glass and ceramic manufacturing conveying systems. Any application demanding an inverter-fed motor capable of enduring high ambient temperature, heavy shock loads, and particulate contamination can benefit from the S Series’ robust design philosophy.
