Belts

SKF belts are high-performance V-belts, synchronous belts (timing belts), and banded belts designed for reliable, efficient power transmission in industrial drives. V-belts — including classical wrapped, narrow wedge, and cogged raw-edge types — offer high grip, flexibility, and resistance to heat, oil, and wear. Synchronous belts provide positive, slip-free drive for precise speed control in conveyor positioning, robotics, and engine timing. SKF belts are manufactured from advanced rubber compounds reinforced with polyester, aramid, or fibreglass tension cords, delivering high tensile strength and minimal stretch over their service life. They are matched to SKF pulleys for optimal wrap and groove contact. Correct belt selection (profile, length, cord type) and tensioning maximise drive efficiency and service life. SKF belts are used in compressors, fans, pumps, crushers, agricultural machinery, and countless industrial applications worldwide, carrying loads from fractional to thousands of horsepower.

Consistent cross-section and balanced construction for smooth running.

Global Dimension Standards

ISO, DIN, and RMA sizes for drop-in replacement worldwide.

V-Belt Selection: Classical, Wedge, or Cogged?

Classical wrapped V-belts (Z, A, B, C profiles) are the most economical and tolerant of harsh environments. Wedge belts (SPZ, SPA, SPB, SPC) transmit up to 1.5x the power in the same space. Cogged raw-edge belts combine high flexibility around small pulleys with efficient power transfer, ideal for modern compact drives. SKF’s belt selection tools guide the choice based on power, speed, and pulley diameter.

Synchronous Belts for Precision Motion Control

In automated warehousing, robotic pick-and-place, and CNC auxiliary axes, synchronous belts provide the positional accuracy of a chain drive with lower noise and maintenance. SKF’s trapezoidal (T, AT) and curvilinear (HTD, STD) tooth profiles match the required torque capacity and backlash specification.
