Cassette Seals
SKF cassette seals are pre-assembled, multi-component rotary sealing modules that integrate a primary radial lip seal and a secondary axial or radial seal within a rigid, compact cartridge. The cassette is pressed into the housing bore as a single unit, with its own integrated counterface sleeve, eliminating the need for a separate wear sleeve and simplifying installation. Cassette seals provide superior contamination exclusion in extremely dirty, wet, or abrasive environments such as agricultural soil preparation equipment, construction machinery hubs, and mining conveyor rollers. The multi-stage sealing system (labyrinth + lip) reliably protects the bearing, while the factory-set preload and alignment eliminate many common installation errors. Using SKF cassette seals extends bearing life dramatically in the most hostile sealing environments.

Comparing Cassette Seals to Standard Radial Shaft Seals

The cassette’s self-contained wear sleeve also means that a damaged shaft surface is irrelevant. For critical or hard-to-access bearings, the cassette seal is the optimal choice.
