Deep Groove Ball Bearings

Deep groove ball bearings are the most common rolling bearing design, featuring deep raceway grooves that enable them to carry radial loads and moderate axial loads in both directions. SKF deep groove ball bearings are available in a vast range of sizes, with open, shielded (Z), and sealed (RS, RSH, RZ) variants, and can be pre-greased for life. Their simple, robust design and low friction make them suitable for high-speed applications like electric motors, fans, and pumps. SKF Explorer quality bearings offer improved steel cleanliness and optimized raceway geometry, resulting in significantly longer service life and quieter operation. Cages are available in polyamide, steel, or brass depending on temperature and speed requirements. Whether for a small appliance or a large industrial gearbox, deep groove ball bearings provide a reliable, cost-effective solution for a wide variety of rotating machinery.

Versatile Load Carrying

Handle radial, axial, and combined loads across diverse industrial applications.

Low Friction, High Speed

Minimal friction torque allows operation at high rpm with low energy consumption.

Excellent Sealing Options

RSH contact seals offer superior contamination exclusion and grease retention.

Quiet Running

High surface finish and precision balls reduce noise and vibration levels.

Maintenance-Free Versions

Greased and sealed bearings eliminate relubrication needs for millions of cycles.

Extended Service Life

SKF Explorer upgrade increases fatigue resistance and reduces wear.

Sealed Deep Groove Ball Bearings vs. Shielded: Which to Choose?

Shielded bearings (suffix 2Z) are suitable for clean environments where low friction is critical, while sealed bearings (2RS, 2RSH) are preferred in dusty or wet conditions. Contact seals provide better contamination protection but increase friction slightly; non-contact RZ seals offer a compromise. SKF guides help you select the right closure for your operating environment.
