Dual-Line Lubrication Systems
Dual-line lubrication systems are heavy-duty centralised lubrication architectures designed for large machinery, long conveyor galleries, and extensive plant areas with hundreds or thousands of lubrication points. The system uses two alternating main lines and dual-line metering distributors. The pump pressurises one line, discharging half the distributors; then the system switches to the second line, discharging the other half. This alternating, high-pressure operation (up to 400 bar) can reliably deliver grease over distances of 100 metres or more. Dual-line systems are the standard for steel mills, mining conveyors, coke plants, and large process machinery. SKF dual-line systems are scalable, rugged, and easily expanded. They ensure that even the largest, most remote bearing receives fresh lubricant on a programmed, verified basis, drastically reducing manual greasing requirements in dangerous, heavy-industry environments.

Long Distance Capability
Pumps lubricant over 100+ metres, high pressure up to 400 bar.
Thousands of Points
Modular distributor blocks can serve hundreds to thousands of bearings.
High Reliability
Positive displacement, visual or electronic verification of discharge.
Rugged, Heavy-Duty Components
Built for mining, steel, and cement conditions.
Individually Adjustable Metering
Each outlet volume can be set for specific bearing requirements.
Continuous Expansion Capability
Add distributor blocks without redesigning the main line.
Dual-Line Systems in Mining Conveyor Networks
A 5-kilometre overland conveyor may have hundreds of bearings on head, tail, and idler pulleys. A dual-line system can service these from a central pump station, drastically cutting the time and risk associated with manual greasing in remote, dusty, active mining environments. Verified delivery ensures critical pulley bearings are never missed.

Designing and Commissioning a Dual-Line System
SKF provides system design engineering, including main line sizing, distributor selection, and pump sizing based on total lubricant volume per cycle. Commissioning involves flushing the pipes, verifying each point’s discharge, and setting the control timer. SKF’s experience ensures a reliable, long-life installation.
