Flanged Housings (FNL Series)
The FNL series from SKF comprises robust, split flanged housings for spherical roller bearings and CARB bearings, mounting perpendicular to the machine frame. The flange face has multiple bolt holes for secure attachment to a vertical surface. These housings are manufactured in grey iron or spheroidal graphite iron, with split construction for easy bearing installation and removal. Integrated lubrication grooves and seal seats are standard. FNL housings are employed in agitators, mixers, wind turbine yaw drives, marine propulsion bearings, and large cantilevered shafts where a pillow block cannot be mounted horizontally. Their design resists tilting moments and ensures the bearing maintains alignment under combined radial and axial loads. FNL series housings bring the benefits of split bearing technology to flange-mount installations, simplifying both initial assembly and long-term maintenance.

Split Flange Design
Bearing replaceable without disturbing shaft or vessel flange.
High Moment Load Capacity
Robust flange and ribbing resist twisting forces.
Multi-Bolt Flange Pattern
Even load distribution into the supporting structure.
Oil and Grease Lubrication
Prepared for both with standard ports.
Shaft Seal Integration
Machined seats for radial shaft seals or labyrinths.
Ductile Iron Option
Higher tensile strength for cyclic loading.
FNL Housings in Vertical Agitator Shafts
Process vessels often have a bottom-entering agitator with a flange-mounted bearing. The FNL accommodates the shaft radial load from impeller forces and seals the vessel opening against process liquid. The split design allows bearing renewal without dropping the shaft.

Wind Turbine Yaw Drive Applications
Yaw drives require a robust flanged bearing support that can handle the overturning moment of the nacelle during wind gusts. FNL housings with spherical roller bearings self-align under these variable loads, ensuring reliable slew control over the turbine’s service life.
