Fluid Power Seals - Machined Seals
The fluid power machined seals line from SKF applies the SEAL JET process to create custom piston seals, rod seals, wiper seals, guide rings, and back-up rings for hydraulic cylinders. All the standard sealing functions are available in machined form, with the added benefits of custom sizing, fast delivery, and material flexibility. This is particularly valuable for heavy machinery repair where the original seals are obsolete, for large-diameter cylinders in metal forming presses, or for special cylinders in marine and offshore. SKF machined fluid power seals utilise the same high-performance Ecopur polyurethane and filled PTFE materials as moulded seals, ensuring the mechanical and chemical properties exactly match the application. The ability to adjust seal geometry (lip angles, interference, energiser loading) on a per-job basis provides a tailored sealing solution that often outperforms a standard catalogue seal in a non-standard application.

From 20 mm to 2000 mm, custom geometries machined.
Fast Turnaround
Days, not weeks, for a complete cylinder seal set.
Material Flexibility
Ecopur, PTFE, PEEK, and fabric‑reinforced phenolic.
Single‑Piece or Batch
One‑off prototypes to small production series.
Reverse Engineering
Seals machined from a sample or worn part.
Equal Performance to Moulded
Tribological and mechanical properties identical.
The SEAL JET Difference for Cylinder Repair Shops
A hydraulic repair shop can email a seal profile sketch to SKF at 10 AM and receive a machined piston seal set by courier the next morning. This keeps a critical excavator or press in service, whereas a moulded seal would have a lead time of weeks, costing thousands in downtime.

Migrating a Cylinder Fleet to a Standardised Seal Material
A plant running multiple cylinder brands can standardise on a single SKF Ecopur material for all rod seals by having them machined to each cylinder’s unique dimensions. This simplifies seal inventory and guarantees consistent fluid compatibility across the fleet.
