Heavy-Duty Barrel Pumps
SKF heavy-duty barrel pumps are high-volume, high-pressure grease and oil transfer pumps designed to supply lubricant to centralised lubrication systems, filling stations, or directly to large machinery from original drums or bulk containers. The range includes the SKF Lincoln FlowMaster III and other proven models. These pumps handle high-viscosity greases (up to NLGI 3) and oils, achieving discharge pressures sufficient to overcome long pipe runs and deliver to elevated reservoirs. They are used in steel mills, mining workshops, heavy equipment service bays, and anywhere large volumes of grease are consumed. The pumps are built for continuous industrial duty, with durable air motors or electric drives, robust pump tubes, and options for drum covers, follower plates, and level switches. A heavy-duty barrel pump is the backbone of any high-consumption industrial lubrication operation.

High Volume, High Pressure
Pumps up to NLGI 3 greases for long‑distance delivery.
Rotary or Reciprocating Air Motor
Smooth, pulsation‑free flow.
Drum Follower Plate
Wipes the drum wall, primes the pump, and prevents cavitation.
Hoist or Forklift Lifting Eyes
Ergonomic drum change.
Integral Pressure Relief Valve
Protects the pump and downstream pipework.
Bare Pump or Complete Trolley Systems
Adaptation to any workshop layout.
Choosing Between Rotary and Reciprocating Air Motors
A rotary air motor (like FlowMaster III) provides more uniform flow and is easier to control at low output. A reciprocating motor is simpler and lower cost. For centralised systems where pressure stability is important, the rotary motor is preferred. SKF’s application guide selects the appropriate pump based on the system’s flow and pressure requirements.

The Importance of Follower Plate Material and Seal
A nitrile rubber wiper seal on the follower plate must be compatible with the grease thickener. For polyurea greases, a special FKM wiper is required. SKF ensures the follower plate material is specified correctly to avoid swelling or crumbling, which would contaminate the grease and block downstream metering devices.
