Mechanical Tools for Mounting and Dismounting
SKF mechanical tools for mounting and dismounting are robust, hand-operated tools designed for the correct and safe installation and removal of small to medium-sized rolling bearings. The range includes bearing pullers (internal and external jaw types, puller sets), bearing fitting tool kits (drivers and impact rings that apply force only to the ring with the interference fit), dead-blow hammers with non-rebound faces, and hook wrenches for lock nuts. Mechanical pullers employ strong spindles and arms to generate even extraction force without shaft or housing damage. Fitting tools use a combination of sleeves and impact rings to drive bearings onto shafts or into housings squarely, avoiding the transmission of mounting force through the rolling elements — a primary cause of brinelling. These tools are essential for every industrial maintenance workshop and for field service technicians working on motors, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyor drives.

Safe Bearing Installation
Fitting kits ensure force is applied only to the correct bearing ring.
Damage-Free Extraction
Pullers grip securely on inner or outer ring, leaving shafts and housings intact.
Ergonomic, Tough Construction
Designed for daily industrial use, resisting deformation and corrosion.
Comprehensive Kits
Puller and fitting tool sets cover a wide range of bearing sizes.
Prevents Brinelling
Eliminates hammer impact on raceways and rolling elements.
Fast and Efficient Operation
Reduces machine downtime during bearing replacement.
Using Bearing Fitting Tool Kits to Prevent Mounting Damage
The SKF TMFT series fitting kits include impact rings of increasing size and a drift sleeve. The impact ring contacts the bearing’s inner or outer ring (whichever has the interference fit) and transfers the hammer blow evenly around the circumference. This simple, controlled method eliminates the risk of oblique hammer strikes and rolling element damage that occur when using a pipe or punch.

Selecting the Right Puller for Your Bearing
External jaw pullers grip the outer ring or a pulley behind the bearing; internal pullers extract bearings from blind housings. SKF’s puller range provides gripping forces from a few hundred kilograms to tens of tonnes, with self-locking arms that tighten as load increases. Using the correct puller capacity and reach prevents jaw slippage and personal injury.
