Minimal Quantity Lubrication Units

SKF minimal quantity lubrication (MQL) units are compact, self-contained systems that generate a fine oil aerosol and supply it at low pressure to multiple application points. They are primarily used for near-dry machining in CNC metal cutting machines, and for light chain or bearing lubrication. The unit includes a small reservoir, precision metering pump, mixing valve, and outlets for multiple hoses. SKF’s MQL units are available in various sizes, from micro-units for bench-top machines to larger units for production cells. They significantly reduce oil consumption compared to flood coolant, eliminate the cost of coolant treatment and disposal, and improve the working environment by eliminating coolant mist and splashing. The units can be interfaced with the machine tool’s controller to synchronise aerosol delivery with the machining cycle.
