Non-Split Pillow Housings and Take-Up Housings (SBD and THD Series)
SKF SBD and THD series housings offer non-split (solid) enclosures for bearings where split housings are not required or where a compact, rigid design is preferred. The SBD series is a one-piece pillow block with a through-bore for bearings, sealed with covers on both ends. THD series are non-split take-up housings that slide within a frame rail for belt tensioning, used with adapter-sleeve-mounted spherical roller bearings. Both series are available in grey cast iron. Their non-split construction provides maximum rigidity and a simple, sealed environment for the bearing, ideal for moderate load applications, clean environments, or where frequent bearing changes are not needed. Typical uses include screw conveyors, small processing equipment, and agricultural machinery. The solid design minimises the risk of cap bolt loosening and misalignment, ensuring consistent bearing performance.

Maximum Rigidity
One-piece structure eliminates split joint compliance.
Compact Design
Smaller footprint than equivalent split housings.
Integral Sealing
Covers and seals pre-assembled, reducing installation steps.
Cost-Efficient
Lower manufacturing cost than split designs for small to medium sizes.
Slide Rail Ready (THD)
Take-up design simplifies belt tensioning without separate brackets.
Simplified Maintenance
Bearing with adapter sleeve can often be replaced from shaft end.
Using SBD Housings for Screw Conveyor Support
Screw conveyors in grain or chemical plants need reliable, clean support. SBD solid housings with sealed spherical roller bearings keep product dust out and grease in, and their one-piece rigidity ensures no misalignment develops under the conveyor’s torque.

THD Take-Up Housings in Agricultural Belt Drives
For combine harvester and baler belt drives, THD housings slide in the frame rail to adjust tension. The non-split design resists the frame twist common in welded agricultural structures, protecting the bearing from induced loads and extending life in seasonal use.
