Pressure Switches (Lubrication)
Pressure switches are the most fundamental monitoring device in a lubrication system. SKF supplies adjustable and fixed-setpoint pressure switches that open or close an electrical circuit when the system pressure reaches a threshold — typically confirming that a line has pressurised (indicating delivery) or detecting an over-pressure condition (blockage). They are used extensively in single-line and dual-line systems as end-of-line sensors and fault indicators. SKF’s pressure switches are engineered for high repetition accuracy, resistance to pressure spikes, and long mechanical life. They form a simple, cost-effective layer of protection for automatic lubrication systems.

The Role of the End‑of‑Line Pressure Switch in a Single‑Line System
When the pump pressurises the line, the pressure switch at the furthest point closes, signalling that all injectors have received pressure. If the switch does not close within the expected time, the controller alarms “line fault.” This one simple sensor verifies the entire system’s delivery for dozens of points.

Setting a Differential Pressure Switch for Filter Monitoring
An oil filter bypass is indicated by a rising differential pressure. A pressure switch with two ports measures the difference between filter inlet and outlet. Set to alarm at 1.5 bar differential, it tells the operator exactly when to change the filter element, preventing dirty oil from bypassing into the bearings.
