Single Row Full Complement Cylindrical Roller Bearings

Single row full complement cylindrical roller bearings have the maximum possible number of rollers, since no cage is present, providing the highest radial load capacity for their envelope. SKF produce these in SL and NCF series, among others. The elimination of the cage limits their speed capability due to roller-to-roller friction, but for oscillating or slow-moving applications, they are ideal. Typical uses include crane sheaves, slewing rings, large slewing drives, and heavy lifting machinery where space is limited but loads are very high. The bearing rings are separable, and the roller set is retained by the inner ring flanges (for SL designs) or by specially shaped outer ring lips. SKF offers these bearings with Corrotect® anti-corrosion coatings and various radial internal clearance classes.

Maximum Radial Load Capacity

No cage means more rollers, boosting C and C0 ratings significantly.

Low-Profile Design

Full complement versions fit within standard single row dimensions.

Robust in Oscillating Motion

Perfect for slewing applications with partial rotation.

Separable Rings

Outer ring, roller set, and inner ring can be mounted individually.

Corrosion Protection Available

Zinc coatings for harsh outdoor or marine environments.

Customizable Clearance

C3, C4 classes for thermal expansion or tight fits.

When to Choose Full Complement Over Caged Cylindrical Roller Bearings

In slow-speed, high-load applications like the main bearing of a crane hook, the loss of speed capability is irrelevant. The gain in load capacity means a smaller, lighter, and more economical bearing can be selected. SKF’s load/speed charts help make this decision.

Full Complement Cylindrical Roller Bearings in Slewing Equipment

Slewing rings and large-diameter turntables frequently use full complement cylindrical roller bearings as the main radial support. Their ability to handle high overturning moments when paired with thrust bearings ensures stable rotation under heavy work piece or boom loads.
