SKF Cooper Split Cylindrical Roller Bearings
Split cylindrical roller bearings from SKF Cooper offer pure radial load support with axial float capability, in a fully split format. They are used predominantly as non-locating bearings in long shaft lines, allowing thermal expansion without restraint. The split inner ring, outer ring, cage, and roller set assemble directly onto the shaft without disturbing connected machinery. These bearings are common in propeller shafts, large ventilation fans, and paper machine dryer sections. They provide the same easy replacement benefits as split spherical bearings but with higher speed limits and lower friction, where misalignment compensation is not required. SKF Cooper’s precision manufacturing ensures that the radial clearance and load-carrying ability meet the application’s needs even after assembly.

Axial Float Enabled
Permits shaft expansion/contraction without friction.
High-Speed Capability
Design allows higher speeds than split spherical types.
In-Situ Assembly
All components slide under shaft, bolt together without dismantling.
High Radial Capacity
Roller line contact supports heavy radial loads.
Robust Cage Design
Split cage section retains and guides rollers securely.
Lube and Seal Integration
Split housings with integral split seals available.
Split Cylindrical Bearings in Propeller Shaft Lines
Marine propulsion shafts are long and supported by multiple bearings. Replacing a worn strut bearing with a solid type would require dry docking. A split cylindrical roller bearing installed in place extends vessel operating time between overhauls.

Non-Locating Bearing Positions with Split Cylindrical Rollers
In long dryer rolls or fan shafts, the non-locating bearing must allow axial movement. A split cylindrical roller bearing handles the radial load while letting the shaft slide within the inner ring, matching the function of an NU solid bearing but with easier service.
