SNL 30, 31 and 32 Series Housings
The SKF SNL 30, 31, and 32 series represent the modern generation of split plummer block housings, engineered for spherical roller bearings and CARB bearings in shaft sizes up to approximately 300 mm. They are the successors to the classic SNL 2–6 series, offering improved strength-to-weight ratio, enhanced sealing interfaces, and larger oil reservoir capacity for oil lubrication options. The series differ in width and strength: 30 for light loads, 31 for medium, 32 for heavy. The housings are made from high-grade grey cast iron, with a ribbed design that increases rigidity while reducing material. SNL 30/31/32 support both grease and oil bath lubrication, with options for oil pick-up rings or slingers to ensure reliable bearing feed at low and high speeds. They are widely used in modern fans, conveyors, pumps, and marine shaftlines.

Upgrading from SNL 2–6 to SNL 30/31/32 Series
When replacing legacy housings, the modern SNL 30/31/32 series offers the same shaft height and bolt pattern in many sizes, simplifying retrofit while delivering better sealing, easier maintenance, and longer bearing life through improved lubrication management.
Oil Lubrication Setup in SNL 30 Series
For high-speed fan applications, oil bath lubrication is preferred. The SNL 30 series features a larger sump and can be fitted with a slinger disc that lifts oil to the bearing. A sight glass and oil drain plug come as standard, enabling easy level checks and changes without opening the housing.
