SKF
Supply Units (Lubrication)
SKF supply units are complete, skid-mounted or containerised systems that supply cooled, filtered, and pressurised oil or minimal quantity lubricant to multiple lubrication points. The range includes oil supply units for circulation systems (tanks, pumps, filters, heat exchangers assembled on a common baseplate), minimal quantity lubrication units for MQL machining, oil and air lubrication units for spindle applications, micro units for compact MQL, and filling units (barrel pumps and extraction systems). Supply units are chosen when a pre-engineered, ready-to-connect system module is preferred over assembling individual components. They simplify project engineering, reduce on-site installation time, and come fully tested from the factory. SKF’s supply units are used in machine tools, paper machines, steel mills, and power plants. They can include extensive monitoring and control as part of the package, enabling plug-and-play integration into the plant’s lubrication network.

The Engineering Value of a Pre‑Tested Supply Unit
A paper machine’s oil circulation system can be fully commissioned and tested in the factory, with all control loops tuned and documented. On site, only the interconnecting pipework and electrical supply need to be connected, cutting commissioning time by 50% and eliminating start‑up risks.

Sizing a Supply Unit for a Turbo‑Generator Set
The unit must provide and cool oil for the turbine and generator bearings, typically requiring a flow rate of 200‑600 L/min with cooling capacity to remove 100‑300 kW of heat. SKF’s supply units are sized using thermodynamic models of the oil circuit, with built‑in safety margins for summer ambient temperatures.
