Thrust Washers
SKF thrust washers are flat, disc-shaped plain bearings that carry axial loads between rotating or oscillating components. They are produced in the same advanced composite materials as cylindrical bushings (PTFE-based, POM-based) as well as sintered bronze. Typical applications include automotive kingpin thrust washers, hydraulic pump swashplate supports, and gearbox thrust faces. The washers are thin and lightweight, fitting into spaces too tight for rolling thrust bearings. Self-lubricating composite washers eliminate the need for axial grease supply, simplifying assembly and maintenance. SKF thrust washers are available in standard metric sizes, and custom dimensions can be machined from strip stock. They operate quietly, absorb vibration, and provide consistent low friction over their service life.
