Ultra-Slim Thin Section Bearings
SKF Ultra-Slim thin section bearings take the space and weight saving concept to the extreme, offering the thinnest possible cross-sections for a given bore diameter. These bearings are manufactured with exceptionally thin rings and miniature balls or rollers, making them ideal for applications where every gram and cubic millimetre counts — such as in aerospace gimbals, compact optical mounts, endoscopic surgical robots, and miniaturised satellites. Despite the delicate proportions, SKF maintains high precision (ABEC 5-7) and material quality to deliver adequate load capacity for their intended lightweight duties. Ultra-Slim bearings are available in various contact configurations similar to Reali-Slim but with even thinner profiles. Custom engineering to meet specific envelope and load requirements is a core SKF capability in this product line.

Ultra-Slim Bearings in Space Telescopes and Satellites
Space applications demand bearings that are lightweight, thermally stable, and can operate in vacuum without lubrication. SKF Ultra-Slim bearings with dry film lubrication or ceramic balls meet these stringent requirements, enabling precise mirror positioning in earth observation satellites.

Miniature Surgical Robots Using Ultra-Slim Bearings
Endoscopic robots require bearings that fit within a fingertip-sized package while maintaining smooth, accurate articulation. SKF’s Ultra-Slim bearings provide the necessary precision and low friction for manipulator joints, sterilised to medical-grade specifications.
