Wear Sleeves
SKF wear sleeves are precision-ground, thin-walled cylindrical steel sleeves that are press-fitted onto a worn or damaged shaft to provide a pristine sealing surface for radial shaft seals. They are manufactured from high-grade steel, with a surface finish and hardness optimised for lip seal performance. Installation is simple with a drift or press, and the sleeve is sized to match the shaft diameter with a slight interference fit. Wear sleeves eliminate the need for costly shaft disassembly, regrinding, or replacement during pump, motor, or gearbox repairs. SKF Speedi-Sleeve is the well-known brand, often supplied with a flange and installation tool. Using a wear sleeve in conjunction with a new seal restores system integrity quickly and cost-effectively, enabling a machinery repair that is often completed on-site in under an hour.

How to Install an SKF Speedi-Sleeve
Clean the shaft, measure for size, and use the included installation tool to press the sleeve squarely onto the shaft until it reaches the stop. The flange can be left in place or removed after installation. The new seal is then fitted over the sleeve’s finished surface. The entire process restores sealing ability in minutes.

Matching the Correct Wear Sleeve to Shaft Size
SKF Speedi-Sleeves are available in a vast range of diameters, covering the majority of industrial shaft sizes. The sleeve is specified to fit a shaft diameter slightly smaller than its bore, creating an interference fit that keeps it securely in position under seal friction.
