Tyrolit Core Drill Motors | High-Performance Electric & Hydraulic Drive Units
Tyrolit Core Drill Motors are the powerhouse drive units at the heart of every Tyrolit core drilling system. Available in an extensive output range from lightweight 1.8 kW universal motors for hand-held dry drilling to powerful 5.5 kW three-phase industrial motors and 40 kW hydraulic power heads for the largest rig-mounted operations, Tyrolit drill motors are precision-built for the extreme demands of continuous diamond coring in reinforced concrete and masonry. The motors feature rugged construction with sealed bearings to protect against concrete dust and water ingress, multiple protection circuits (soft-start, thermal overload, mechanical safety clutch), and gearboxes optimised for high torque at low drilling speeds—critical for efficient diamond cutting. Tyrolit’s DME series (universal motors) are the industry leaders for professional wet and dry drilling in diameters up to 500 mm, with models featuring the unique Soft Impact function to accelerate dry drilling without bit damage. Hydraulic motors are designed for remote power pack operation, making them ideal for high-power, deep structural coring where electricity may be unavailable or in explosive atmospheres. The same model of motor can be used hand-held for quick anchor holes, or mounted on a variety of Tyrolit rigs for precision vertical, horizontal, and angle drilling. Tyrolit drill motors are a capital investment in reliability; every unit is factory-tested under load, and the company’s global service network ensures years of productive life.

Multiple Power Outputs for Every Application
From 1.8 kW hand-held to 40 kW hydraulic, Tyrolit provides the exact power class to match your bit diameter range, ensuring you never lack torque or pay for unnecessary weight.
Patented Soft Impact Function (Dry Drilling)
Tyrolit DME motors feature a switchable gearbox mode that superimposes a gentle hammering action, dramatically increasing dry core bit speed in abrasive materials without damaging the diamond segments.
Mechanical and Electronic Overload Protection
A precise, adjustable slip clutch and an electronic current limiter protect the motor and gearbox in the event of a sudden rebar jam, preventing the dangerous kickback and costly burnouts common in drilling.
Optimized Dual-Water Sealing
Proprietary sealing systems allow Tyrolit motors to operate flawlessly in both dry and wet conditions, with the water swivel lubricating the drill bit without leaking into the motor bearings.
High-Torque Low-Speed Gearboxes
The three- and four-stage planetary gearboxes are purpose-designed for diamond tooling, delivering optimal rotational speed and high torque for fast, smooth cutting through hard aggregate and steel rebar.
Compatibility across the Tyrolit Rig Ecosystem
Every motor features standard mounting collars that attach seamlessly to Tyrolit DRA drill rigs, enabling a single motor investment to cover hand-held, vertical rig, and angle drilling applications.
Why Tyrolit Drill Motors Are the Professional Standard
For a professional concrete cutter, a drill motor failing mid-pour can mean missing a critical structural deadline. Tyrolit drill motors are designed for continuous commercial use, with duty cycles that far exceed light-duty DIY equipment. The metallurgy of the motor armatures and the hardening of the gear sets are engineered specifically for the dusty, high-vibration environment of construction sites. Features such as the PUR encapsulated handles and electronics protect the motor’s brain from the water and dust that kills generic equipment. The availability of genuine Tyrolit spare parts and certified service centers ensures that a ten-year-old Tyrolit motor can be maintained to factory specification, providing a service life that justifies the initial investment multiple times over.

Selecting the Right Motor: Electric Universal vs. Three-Phase vs. Hydraulic
The choice depends on the power supply availability and drilling diameter. For general construction (up to 200 mm holes), a 2.0–2.5 kW universal motor (DME19DP) provides single-phase convenience and soft-impact versatility. For sustained heavy drilling (>200 mm) in an industrial environment, a 5.5 kW three-phase motor (DMU series) provides cooler operation and unlimited duty cycle. For major infrastructure, bridge, and nuclear projects where electric power is limited or spark-risk must be eliminated, hydraulic motors are specified. Tyrolit’s application engineers can calculate the required spindle torque based on your maximum bit diameter and aggregate hardness, ensuring the motor is perfectly specified.
