Tyrolit Fleece Rolls & Sheets | Non-Woven Abrasive Rolls for Hand & Machine Finishing

Tyrolit Fleece Rolls and Fleece Sheets are versatile, non-woven abrasive consumables supplied in bulk roll and sheet formats for manual hand sanding, cut-to-size machine applications, and general surface conditioning across metal, wood, composites, and paint. The open, three-dimensional fiber web is uniformly impregnated with premium Tyrolit abrasive grain, creating a flexible, tear-resistant material that resists loading, cools the workpiece during use, and produces a consistent, linear or non-directional satin finish depending on technique. Fleece rolls are typically available in widths up to 100 mm or more, in lengths of 10 meters or longer, while sheets are pre-cut to standard dimensions for immediate use or further cutting. This format economy makes fleece rolls and sheets exceptionally cost-effective for high-volume shops, body repair facilities, and metalworking operations that consume large quantities of finishing material. The products are used dry or with water/light oils, and their durability allows repeated use as fresh surface is exposed by slight compression. Tyrolit fleece rolls and sheets are available in a full grit spectrum from coarse stripping to ultra-fine final finishing, and in grades of hardness/compression to suit the application. Metal fabricators, automotive refinishers, paint preparation teams, and woodworking shops choose Tyrolit fleece for its unbeatable combination of flexibility, finish consistency, and long working life.

Economical Bulk Format

Continuous rolls and pre-cut sheets minimize waste and cost per square meter, ideal for production environments where large-area conditioning or high-frequency part finishing is required.

Consistent, Uniform Satin Finish

The three-dimensional abrasive web produces a smooth, scratch-free matte or satin finish without the directional striations of coated abrasives, improving paint adhesion and cosmetic appearance.

Outstanding Loading Resistance

The open synthetic fiber structure prevents the debris accumulation that quickly clogs sandpaper and coated cloth, maintaining aggressive cutting action on aluminium, composites, and painted surfaces.

Flexible Conformability for Hand Use

Fleece material drapes and conforms to contoured surfaces, enabling operators to hand-finish complex shapes, tube corners, and curved panels without the expense of shaped wheels.

Multi-Purpose Across Materials

Tyrolit fleece effectively conditions steel, stainless steel, aluminium, plastic, fiberglass, wood, and painted surfaces, reducing the need for dedicated material-specific abrasives.

Extended Product Life and Reusability

The durable fiber matrix withstands heavy use, and the abrasive grain is distributed throughout the material thickness—as the surface wears, fresh grain is exposed, prolonging the effective working life of each piece.

Why Professional Finishers Choose Tyrolit Fleece Over Conventional Sandpaper

Conventional coated abrasives like sandpaper rely on a single layer of grain bonded to a flat backing. Once that grain dulls or the backing loads, the abrasive stops cutting and must be discarded. Tyrolit non-woven fleece, by contrast, contains abrasive grain throughout the entire thickness of the web. As fibers on the surface break down, new fibers and fresh grain underneath are exposed, maintaining a consistent finishing action. This results in dramatically longer use per piece and more uniform results over time. The open structure also allows air and moisture to pass through, preventing heat build-up that can warp thin metal or soften paint coatings. For automotive body shops hand-sanding primer or blending clear coats, Tyrolit fleece sheets provide a forgiving, non-aggressive cut that reduces the risk of sanding through the paint. In metalworking, fleece rolls used on cylindrical tube polishers create an immaculate satin finish on stainless steel handrails and architectural features in a fraction of the time required by multiple stages of coated abrasives.

Selecting the Right Tyrolit Fleece Grit and Density

Fleece selection follows a matrix of grit (coarseness) and density (hardness). Coarse grit, low-density fleece is used for aggressive cleaning, stripping, and paint removal—it cuts fast and resists loading. Medium grit, medium-density fleece is the general-purpose choice for surface conditioning, blending, and scuffing prior to paint or powder coat. Fine and ultra-fine grit, high-density fleece is specified for final finishing, achieving near-polished satin lusters on stainless steel and aluminium, or for denibbing wood finishes. Tyrolit provides application charts matching their fleece grades to common tasks, simplifying product selection for buyers. Rolls can be fitted to feed-through automatic machines, while sheets are used manually or on orbital sanders with appropriate backing pads. Custom widths and lengths can be supplied for unique machine configurations.
