Floor Grinding Process and Technique Overview

Effective floor grinding and surface preparation follows a structured multi-step process. Step one: rough grinding the raw, cured concrete surface using metal-bond diamond tools – typically in three grit progressions – to flatten, level, and expose aggregate to the desired degree. Step two: transitional and intermediate grinding with resin or ceramic bond tools to refine the surface and progressively close the pores. Step three: chemical treatment with densifiers and hardeners applied between grinding stages to strengthen the surface. Step four: final polishing with increasingly fine resin-bond diamond pads to achieve the specified gloss level, from matte to high-gloss terrazzo appearance.
