Belt Selection Guide for SCM Calibrating, Sanding, and Finishing

Different SCM machine functions require different belt specifications. Calibrating sanders, which equalize panel thickness, need aggressive, coarse-grit (36–60) heavy-duty cloth belts with strong joints to withstand high stock removal rates. Finishing sanders, which produce the final surface before coating, require fine-grit (120–220) paper-backed belts with thin, flexible joints to achieve the smoothest possible surface. Intermediate sanding uses medium-grit (80–100) belts in either cloth or paper, depending on material.
