Tyrolit Wall Chasers & Handheld Concrete Grinders | Slot Cutting & Surface Prep Tools

Tyrolit Wall Chasers and Handheld Concrete Grinders are specialized, portable power tools designed for precision slot and chase cutting in brick, block, masonry, and concrete for the installation of electrical conduit and plumbing pipework, as well as for handheld concrete surface preparation and edge grinding. The wall chaser is a twin-bladed saw that cuts two parallel grooves simultaneously into a wall, allowing the material between them to be quickly removed to form a neat rectangular chase. Tyrolit wall chasers feature powerful universal motors, an adjustable blade spacing mechanism for different groove widths, and an integrated, high-efficiency dust extraction port that captures the fine dust at the source when connected to a Tyrolit extractor, ensuring clean, OSHA-compliant operation in occupied buildings. The handheld concrete grinder function is served by powerful angle grinders and specialised tools like the Tyrolit hand-held concrete grinder designed to accept diamond cup wheels for levelling high spots, removing formwork seams, and edge grinding. These tools are the daily workhorses of electrical, plumbing, and concrete finishing crews, providing the portability and detailed control that large floor machines lack. Tyrolit builds them for durability, with sealed motor windings to resist concrete dust and overload protection to survive sustained heavy use on demanding job sites.

Twin-Blade Parallel Cutting for Perfect Chases

Adjustable spacing between two diamond blades (typically 18-40 mm) produces clean, parallel cuts in a single pass, creating uniform wall chases ready for conduit installation without overcutting into the masonry.

Integrated, Tool-Free Dust Extraction

The chaser hood connects directly to a vacuum hose, and the floating guard maintains seal close to the wall surface, capturing 95%+ of silica dust and enabling near dust-free chasing in finished apartments and hospitals.

Adjustable Depth Control and Blade Spacing

A guide roller and depth setting allow precise groove depth, while quick-adjust blade spacing enables different conduit widths to be chased without stopping to change machine setup.

Powerful, Dust-Protected Motors

Tyrolit motors feature labyrinthine seals and airflow management that expel dust before it reaches bearings, dramatically extending the tool’s life in the harsh concrete demolition environment.

Handheld Grinder Compatibility with Cup Wheels

The Tyrolit concrete grinder models accept standard diamond cup wheels for edge grinding and surface levelling, extending the machine’s utility beyond just chasing to full concrete finishing.

Lightweight, Ergonomic Design for Vertical Walls

The machines’ center of gravity and soft-grip handles are positioned to make horizontal and vertical overhead chasing less physically demanding, improving cut accuracy.

Why Tyrolit Wall Chasers Are the Electrician’s and Plumber’s Best Investment

In building services, an untidy chase or one cut too deep into the block work creates extra patching and plastering work that erodes profit. Tyrolit’s precise depth control and twin-blade accuracy ensure the chase is exactly the right width and depth, making cable or pipe installation fast and the subsequent plaster fill neat and minimal. The integrated dust extraction is the critical health feature: respirable silica dust from chasing is an immediate respiratory hazard. Using a Tyrolit chaser with a connected extractor keeps the air clear and complies with strict on-site regulations, preventing fines and site shutdowns. For subcontractors who are paid by the meter of chasing, the consistent speed and reliability of the Tyrolit machine translate directly to higher daily earnings.

Tyrolit application

Applications and Blade Selection

For chasing in soft brick or block, standard dry-cut diamond blades are used. For hard concrete or granite block, premium continuous-rim blades with soft bonds are required to maintain cut speed. Tyrolit provides a range of dedicated chasing blade sets in various grits and bond hardnesses. The handheld concrete grinder uses the same Tyrolit cup wheels as the larger floor machines, ensuring a consistent finish on edges and floors. The blade change system is spanner-free in most models, getting the operator back to work in seconds.
